Title - Turtle Alert! Title image based on a photograph by Norbest Wu

Marine turtles thrived in our oceans during the time of the dinosaurs, more than 100 million years ago. Today, the combined onslaught of commercial hunting, egg theft, modern fishing techniques and development along tropical coastlines is pushing these species towards extinction. In this report, the World Society for the Protection of Animals has compiled evidence to illustrate how the multi-billion dollar tourist industry is contributing to the destruction of turtle nesting sites and explains how the industry must take action to help ensure that these ancient creatures don't go the same way as the dinosaurs.
