  • Carapace : nearly round heart shaped with upturned lateral margins

  • Rathkes Gland : pores open on rear part of each inframarginal scute

  • Flippers:Fore and rear carry 2 claws

  • Colour:adult, plain olive - grey carapace but cream or white below with grey margins
