Location 25: A child's sand pit and castle.

The hatchlings have come across the most dangerous obstacle that they have so far encountered, a child's sand pit! Compared to their size, it is very deep and if they fall into it, they will find it hard to climb out.

The baby turtles fall into the shallow part of the pit and easily manage to climb out.

All is well and they carry on down the beach.

The hatchlings approach the pit and some fall into the deepest part and they cannot escape.
These hatchlings will die of dehydration (lack of water) when the sun rises or be eaten by predators (sea birds and ghost crabs).
