The eggs have been laid and the female turtle has returned to the safety of the sea.
The remainder of the game will follow the hatching of the eggs, and the difficult and dangerous journey of the hatchlings as they struggle to the water's edge for the first time.

A beach towel has been covering the nest during the hottest part of the day. The temperature of the nest has decreased and fallen below 30 degrees centigrade.

When the temperature is 30 degrees centigrade, equal numbers of males and females hatch. If the temperature falls below 30 degrees, more males will emerge. If it gets too hot, more females emerge or the developing eggs die.

A few eggs have been accidently dug up by children playing in the soft sand at the top of the beach. These eggs become damaged and could lead to the death of many other eggs.

20 eggs, which are the size of ping-pong (table tennis) balls, die. The area around the nest has also been compacted, which may reduce the chance of hatchlings emerging successfully.
