Conserving the Marine Environment

The marine environment covers 71% of the Earth's surface and is home to 97% of all life on earth, it is more biologically diverse than terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems. This environment is essential to life on earth in part because marine algae produce the 70% of the planet’s oxygen supply. Furthermore, marine environments play an important part in the economic prosperity, social well being, and quality of life of the global population.
